share travel tips to northeast

We have a 2015 24.1 Vegas and live near Houston Texas. We are considering a trip to the finger lakes area in New York. We would appreciate any information willing to share; campsites in that region other recommendations as we travel from Texas to the east coast appreciated. Any Vegas owners interested in meeting?

Letchworth State Park in Castile NY is called the "Grand Canyon of the East" -- beautiful park. You can make camping reservations on line.

Also check on wineries in the Finger Lakes region -- lots of wineries with tastings and tours.

Steuben Glass Factory in Corning NY.

Enchanted Rose Garden Penfield NY (near Rochester)

If you are willing to go a little further east: Cooperstown is worth a visit--and not just for the Baseball Hall of Fame. The town itself is a really nice small town and the lake just to the north is very beautiful.

Watkins Glen is another nice state park and the Grand Prix course is pretty cool, with the Finger Lakes just to the north.

Darien Lake is another area just west of the Finger Lakes with an amusement park and amphitheater with shows all summer.

fingers lakes

Watkins Glen State Park is absolutely beautiful. One of my all time favorite places in the US. If you like waterfalls it's not to be missed. If you want the less strenuous trip to view the falls take the bus to the top of the trail and walk down (lots of steps) If you want a workout, start at the bottom and walk up the trail, Either way you will see all 19 of the falls and they are beautiful. We have also been to the Corning Museum several times. Its a wonderful museum. Don't be fooled by the name it's so much more than "corning ware" You can sign up to blow your own glass. Lots of Fun! I can't comment on the Watkins Glen SP campground as we did not have an RV until recently but I am planning on checking it out , hopefully this fall.

Safe Travels

We've been to Watkins Glen and Letchworth state parks and recommend both. Many wineries in that area, if you like that sort if thing. We really enjoyed the Corning Glass museum, too. If you haven't seen Niagara Falls, that's a must see! They claim that the Anchor Bar in Buffalo started the chicken wing craze. How about Buffalo wings in Buffalo?

Much to do, in that area, you'll wish you had allowed more time!
