I Heard Something About Walt Disney World

It was on the news this morning that they may not open until 2021!
Since I've got reservations in their RV Park for early September: I hope that the story was just some fake news!

I just made reservations for Sept 20 to 27. I hope they open. If not will reschedule. We had March but they refunded. I did hear possible FL residents only at first.

Fake News!! They are going to reopen soon, but they will be limiting the amount of people coming through the gates.

Do you have a source for this information?

Exclamation

That speculation comes from ONE "analyst". I put analysts in the same category as TV weatherguessers.

At this point, it's all speculation. Social distancing doesn't work with the existing theme park model.

You can bet that the smart folks at the theme parks are working overtime trying to figure out how to get their venues safely open and profitable asap. No small challenge!

Thanks for posting the video.
It offers some hope for those of us with reservations later in the year.

I drove yesterday from Sanford to Tampa in the RV. Normally I would have taken 417 around Orlando and avoid the traffic but pay the tolls. I decided to take I4 through Orlando this time due to all the attractions being closed.

What a mistake! The traffic was not bad but the road construction beat my RV to death and it was not an easy drive with the narrowed lanes and the constant s curves as you changed from old road to temporary road and back. Gave my shocks a workout. Never again in the RV until that roadwork is back to something resembling normal.

But down in the Disney area it was a real breeze instead of the normal stop and go backup.

Tampa was easy to get through as well. No backup at the I4/I275 junction and beyond.

We had to make an emergency trip to SC at 5AM due to passing of family member in 2017. Took 27 to I4 to I95. Time was issue as remaining soul disabled and helpless due to stroke. I4 with constant switchbacks was hell. Another trip like that will convince me to buy the heavier sway bars. The off camber switchbbacks freaked out wife, not easy as she was ex barrel racer.

Have been on it since and is better but has long way to go yet. West of Orlando downtown much better.

I just got off the phone with a Cast Member at WDW. They are taking reservations for date after June 1st. If cancellations need to happen: they will email the guests that are affected. NOTHING on the internet that isn't directly from a Disney Blog is just speculation.

Christmas is always beautiful at WDW!
We thought about trying to make reservations for that time frame; but our Winters throw a kink into mix. We'd have to leave up here fully winterized, get the RV ready for use along the way, and then have to figure out how far North we can get before we need to winterize again!

The 1st few weeks in December can be pretty cool. Crowds usually low during week. Weekends busy. Light shows are impressive.

Just don't expect much from the Christmas Parade: you'll be "behind the scenes", of a made for TV event.

Florida resident here who had season passes to Disney until late last year. There are no longer any "slow times" at the parks. They have been operating at +96 pct capacity every day/every month for the last several years. That's why they knew they could raise ticket prices. For us, it was terribly unpleasant. Spend a day, maybe get onto two attractions via Fastpass and one other by standing in a line for at least an hour and a half. Eat an expensive meal, walk three miles in 100b degree heat and then head back to your mh. The saving grace for us mh owners is that you'll got close-in parking and you'll 6 could easily get out of the heat for an hour in the afternoon.

Hate to rain on anybody's parade but it's likely that theme parks and movie theaters won't be safe for years. It just isn't possible to get the spacing even if they restrict visitors. Think about trading a couple of days at the happiest place on Earth for a family member getting sick and possibly dying. That's just one of two problems for management to deal with. The second problem is that at 50 pct occupancy, the financial model doesn't work.

Don't get your hopes up.

But if 50% capacity is the new norm, just think how much better an experience it would be. They could double the ticket prices and still be full and make even more money.

That is what I was thinking. I would definitely give it another try if that were the case.
