Vegas 24.1 mattress
Has anyone replaced the mattress (twin size) in their Vegas or Axis? We find them to be a little on the firm side and tried a memory foam topper but my DW needs a step to get into bed.

We use a topper on our RV Queen...
And we put an ottoman at the foot of the bed.
It gives the Missus a step, and it's perfect for storing blankets and sheets.

We have twin beds in the Vegas and the stock mattress is 6" and the topper is 3" so add that to the platform and it's climb. Looking to change the stock mattress for a 6" memory foam mattress. No room for a ottoman.

We use the inexpensive inflatable mattresses with a 2" topper mem. foam. If one has a leak, we just buy another one. Usually less than $10.

We found the original mattresses to be very uncomfortable (they went to the curb for the landfill). My DW found that the Coleman River Gorge Air Mattress, about $70 will fit perfectly in the 24.1. Being battery operated (4 D-Cells) you can control the firmness as needed, and they are comfortable. Please Note:Being of Chinese origin (no quality control) we purchased the extended warranty for an additional $8. This has proven to be worthwhile as we have exchanged them for new ones, when they develop leaks.

When we replaced the air mattress on the drop down bunk I ordered from https://www.foambymail.com/ . You can customize everything: the size, the height, different layers of differing foam types (including memory foam).
The new mattress perfectly fits the drop down bunk and is 3 layers: high density foam, medium density foam and memory foam--its the most comfortable bed in the RV now.
Of course this option is more expensive than the cheap air mattresses mentioned above (we've tried sleeping on air mattresses and it doesn't work well for us--I find them the most uncomfortable thing to sleep on, even worse than just laying outside in the dirt!).

We just purchased Tempurpedic toppers and they are great. Got them on sale. My wife is 5 feet and has no problem getting into bed.

Wouldn't any mattress just be a mattress tested at a bed store to give an idea of suiting you?
We put a layer of foam under the stock mattress.

Most cities of any size will have at least one mattress maker. I live in Chattanooga Tennessee size 300,000 people and we have two. They made us one that folds in the middle for our axis 27.2. Cost was a little over 600 dollars. Natural latex. No bugs no off gas no fumes. We love it. Had it since 2016. Over 45000 miles. No sag yet. Medium firm. Wife loves it.

Made the rounds of a couple of bed stores and didn't find anything that was acceptable. Trying to stay with a 6" mattress as DW needs a step with our 3" topper addition. Interesting that the mattress inside the cover is a Serta mattress (who knew). We'll keep looking.

I was in our rv yesterday, thought of you, and took the time to look at the bedroom floor.
If you give up one small bottom drawer you can build a platform on the entire floor doing away with the step stool. Then you move that drawer to the front of the platform you built and you have a factory looking drawer that is now about 7 feet deep.
Giving up one drawer, and gaining a place to store umbrellas and fishing poles and rifles and that exhaust thingy that goes on generator exhaust, for comfortable sleep due to a wider selection of mattresses is what I'd do.
It's a couple of 1x6 and a piece of plywood cut to fit. You can even use the existing floor covering to make it match.
(Don't tell my spousal unit or I'll be building this)

This one works great for us in the overhead bunk over the driving area of our Axis 24.2
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
It fits within an inch +/- on a twin bed. It requires 110v for the pump but that is not an issue with our inverter. My wife starts with it pump up pretty high then adjusts for comfort by removing air.
Deflated, it leaves enough room in the bed for bedding before it is cranked up in the stowed position.

We changed out the stock twin mattresses with Linen Spa 8" foam mattresses. They fit perfectly and are much more comfortable than the old ones. On Amazon they are around a $100.00 each. But money well spent.

24.1 bed
We bought 3 inch foam king mattress, cut it in half and had to trim the length. Cutting it in half fit perfect for each twin. Instead of putting it on top we lifted up the mattress and put the foam under. It gave us the perfect comfort for the mattress.

Sadly I don't have any of the details: we ordered that shortly after we picked up the coach back in 2014.
I just measured the bunk and configured the foam via their website.

I bought the 4 inch memory foam mattress from wayfair. Super comfortable for us. I also bought zip up bedding from Beddy’s. Check it out for ease of use. We just stack the inserts for the king option on top of each other and it becomes the same height as the mattresses.
The standard twin that comes with the Rv is pretty hard.
