Ez oil change
Can anyone recommend an EZ oil change device for a 2017 Ford Triton V10 in a 2017 ACE 30.1? The oil pan and plug sit directly on top of the front axle. It can make quite a mess. I looked for an EZ oil change plug with a hose and it turns out there are quite a few types and makes. Any suggestions? Thanks much!

I'm a big fan of the Fumoto drain valve. My F53 uses the Fumoto F106N. Once installed, all you need to do is attach a piece of 1/2-Inch Diameter by 3/8-Inch Clear Vinyl Tubing onto the valve's nipple, open the valve, and empty into a container. Nice and easy. I've had 3 motorhomes, and this was one of the first modifications I've done on each of them. Make sure that you buy the correct one for your motorhome.

I also would recommend Fumoto. I believe there are a few choices you can make for that engine with different hose connection tube lengths.
If for some reason you don't like Fumoto, then Ronin would be a good one to look at.

But to drop that oil out without making a huge mess the first time use one of those flexible oil drain direction devices like this (Flexible Funnel):

We too like the Fumoto drain valve. We had concerns at the start of road debris bouncing up and opening the valve. happy to report all has been well after 3 years of service. Ours flows unobstructed to the ground, into a pan that will hold all (7 qts) of oil. Only downside to this drain is that it is rather slow flowing, thus open and let it drain overnight and finish it in the morning. with planning, this has always worked well with us. No raising of vehicle makes it a pleasure. I recently saw a tip stating filling the new replacement oil filter before screwing it on is a good idea. I have been changing oil for over 50 years and that was new to me. in our application with the filter screwing straight up, it works, so I started doing this. I dont think it is a big deal thing, but I like it and can use it, so I do! We always change the filter when changing oil, and almost always lub it too, grease the zirt fitting on the ball joints.
this topic has been well discussed on this forum and where I learned of it, thanks forum folks!

I put my catch pan under it. Yes oil hits the axle and goes into catch pan. Easy to wipe off with a rag. I bought a pump to pump oil out of the 5 qt container into the fill tube. Works great.

Another vote for the Fumoto on the legacy V-10. Just wish it was available for my F-150 with the STUPID plastic oil plug! Seriously, Ford?? Plastic?? Sorry for the rant!

Fumoto x10
For the oil filter I cut the top off a 2 litter plastic soda bottle. After loosening the filter I put the container over the filter and unscrew it. It catches all the oil with minimal oil spill

I don't know why the oil would drain slow if you would drive a couple of miles to warm it up. With the plug, you don't need to worry about burning your fingers so long as you use leather gloves. Let it drain a couple of hours to replace the oil filter. No big deal. Great for cars as well.

Fumoto here also and love it, have the same valve on my F-150. Both use the same oil filter and oil, 6 quarts for F-150 and 7 for V-10. Bad thing is the F-150 is 4X4 and the filter goes in horizontal so can be a bit messy. Jim.

I also use the Fumoto oil plug, and found this oil filter removal tool on ebay.
Fits the oil filter, and uses a 3/8 drive rachet to remove.
Catches all the oil from the filter.

I use a “big gulp” size styrofoam cup to unscrew the filter. Catches most of the oil and keeps me from burning my hand. And it’s disposable. And it’s free if you ever buy the drink or pick one up from the ground or the trash.
