Flashing engine light.

Brand new Thor 34R. Drove it 700 miles today and the service engine light starts flashing. The engine starts running very rough and won’t shift at correct shift points. Drove it 5 miles to RV park. Called Ford and they won’t send tech. Say they will tow to dealer. We have the RV packed for a two week trip that appears to be ending on day 1! Anyone have suggestions as to how to get Ford to come look at brand new v-8.

Do you know about the recall for these V8s involving spark plug wires? I suspect that is your issue.

I agree with Ace? This is a likely candidate.
But with a flashing CEL: don't drive it!

Ford should send someone. Your dealer should have run the recall prior to delivery. Mine did a recall search prior to delivery in March and discovered a Frieghtliner recall. They sent the coach to the local Frieghtliner shop for the fix the day before we picked it up. I would roast your sales rep and dealer for you troubles.

I have an 2021 ACE 33.1 with a V8 engine. There is a TSB (not a recall) about the spark plug wires. I really dont understand why FORD did not make this into a recall, a supposed to be a Ford TSB. (We will fix it when it break). I have come across that TSB and ordered 8 of those replacement spark plug wires (hoping I will not need them). Wrong!!! 2 days into our 21 day road trip, my CEL started flashing. I was lucky enough to have found a mobile mechanic while I pulled out at Loves gas station. Misfire in #3. I asked the mechanic to REPLACE ALL 8 spark plug wires. Back on the road after an hour.

Ford will tow you to the nearest “approved” dealership. But make sure they WILL work on your RV before you have it towed. I went to that route before deciding to call a mobile mechanic. I was just glad I have the 8 spark plug wires with me.

Goodluck and I hope you fix your RV soon.

Who did you call at Ford? Did you call Ford roadside or Ford Warranty?

Chances are any mobile repair service is not going to have the plug works and I am not aware of any Ford mobile. roadside so either way you may get stuck with a tow to the nearest authorized repair service.

Never heard of Ford sending a tech. Free roadside service for 3 years. They'll have it towed

And why "roast" the sales guy and dealer. It's a Ford issue not thor or the dealer

Murphy's Law states "Whatever can go wrong: will".
But there's a corollary: "It will also happen at the worst possible time."
I'm sorry that your trip looks to be having some trouble getting off on the right foot. It it's the wires: it's a pretty quick fix...
Good luck!

Because the dealer should have run a report on the vin prior to delivery. That would have caught the TSB and recalls. My dealer did when we took delivery or our 2021 Aria in March and had it fixed prior to us driving off. It was a Frieghtliner issue not Thor. The dealer sent it to Frieghtliner for the fix.

Your insurance most likely has roadside assist. Call therm and make sure you can speak to the technician before they come out. Order a pizza and spark plug wires from them and let them change them when they get there.

I had this issue back in march, CEL flashing, on my way home from a trip. Got into a small town and after a day a local was able to code read it, and it was a P0303 code which is a Cylinder 3 misfire. This is a known ford issue and as someone above noted, it is a TSB not a recall. Ford had it towed to the nearest dealer which was over 2 hours away from my home. Anyhoo all they did was change out the sparkplug wires and that resolved the issue.

I have a 2020 Thor Miramar 35.2. On an awesome note, was the RV was at that same Ford dealer a month earlier for an air conditioner issue and I wish I had known about the TSB (my bad I guess). Also the tow company damaged the front of the RV and now I'm looking at a quoted $8000 repair on the front cap of the RV.. We'll see if Ford Roadside insurance will cover it. Oh and I found out over 4th of July weekend that the air conditioner issue in the cab was not even resolved, when it was sent up to the Dealer..

Great times..

Does anyone have a link to the TSB or more information regarding the problem? Should I go ahead and order some new plug wires?

Here is the actual TSB...I was glad I ordered 8 of the "recommended replacement spark plug wires". Saved our recent trip. I mentioned "recommended replacement spark plug wires" because when I went to my local FORD dealership, they asked for my VIN. They were going to order the "SAME" spark plug wires as the defective ones I have. I said NO. Please make sure you order the CORRECT replacement part number as indicated.

You can either carry them with you and REPLACE when you have the CEL. Or.... you can replace all of them NOW and save you some headache down the road. I wish I did replace them right away before my recent 5K trip.
